Event Details

PEERS, The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills, is an  evidence-based social skills training program, for young adults age 18-30 who are interested in making and keeping friends and / or developing romantic relationships. Developed by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson at UCLA, this program enjoys global recognition, implemented in over 35 countries.

Research has shown that young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as well as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and socio-emotional problems have made positive progress from the PEERS program.

Young adults and social coaches (including parents or other caregivers) attend weekly group sessions. Young adults are taught social skills through instructional lessons and role play demonstrations and practice the skills during group socialization activities. Coaches are taught how to support young adults in making and keeping friends as well as exploring romantic relationships if interested.

Note: coaches are only required for the last 15 minutes of each session.

To participate in this program, young adults must be:

  • Experiencing friendship problems
  • Be ages 18-30 years old; graduated from high school
  • Must be interested in attending the program
  • Must consistently attend the program
  • Need to agree to participate voluntarily in the program
  • Have a consistent social coach willing to attend the program each week
