Development Officer Job Description
Location: Remote
Employment Type: 1 Year contract, 4 days/week (option to renew)
Salary Range: $55,000 to $70,000 based on experience
Reports To: Executive Director
About Autism Community Training Society (ACT)
Autism Community Training (ACT) provides evidence-based information, training, and resources to improve the lives of Autistic individuals, their families, and professionals who support them. To sustain and expand our impact, we seek a dedicated Development Officer to lead and support our fundraising initiatives.
Position Summary
The Development Officer will play a key role in securing financial support for ACT’s programs and initiatives. This position involves grant writing, donor cultivation, event planning, and corporate sponsorship development. The ideal candidate is an organized, strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for ACT’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising:
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns to meet revenue goals.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising events, including logistics, outreach, and follow-up.
- Track and analyze fundraising performance metrics to improve strategies.
- Grants:
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities; write and submit compelling grant applications.
- Donor Relations:
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate donors, foundations, and other funding partners.
- Develop and solicit corporate sponsorships.
- Manage donor communications, including appreciation letters, impact reports, and ongoing engagement.
- Manage a pipeline of up to 100 individual and corporate donors and prospects.
- Collaborate with ACT’s leadership team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Marketing:
- Develop marketing materials and communication strategies to promote fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience in fundraising or development.
- CFRE certification (in progress or achieved) is an asset.
- Experience in a nonprofit environment and knowledge of development best practices.
- Experience working with major gift donors.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Proficiency with fundraising/CRM databases, Google Workspaces, and design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent judgment, independence, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
