An RESP is a registered education savings account with the federal government. It helps individuals, family members, or friends save money for post-secondary education after high school. The RESP can be opened at a bank, credit union, or other financial institution, or through a certified financial services provider or group plan dealer. In addition to personal or family contributions to the RESP account, the government also offers the Canada Education Grant and/or the Canada Learning Bond.
